| 학교소개 및 특징 | 오랜 역사를 자랑하는 버몬트 대학은 1791년 설립되어 미국 뉴잉글랜드 지방에서는 5번째(하버드, 예일, 다트머스, 브라운 대학 다음)로 역사가 오래되었습니다. 1만명이 약감 넘는 학부생과 약 1천500여명의 대학원생, 500여명의 의과대학생을 포함하여 1천500여명의 교수진이 이곳 버몬트 대학에서 생활하고 있습니다. 또한 50개 이상의 다양한 국가에서 온 국제학생들이 약 300명 정도 포함되어 있습니다. 버몬트 대학교에서는 101개의 학사 과정, 54개의 석사 과정과 24개의 박사 과정을 제공하고 있으며, 의학 대학을 통한 M.D. 프로그램도 제공하고 있다. 연구 중심의 공립 종합대학인 버몬트 대학은 현재 농업·생명과학대학, 문리대학, 경영대학, 교육·사회사업대학, 공학·수학대학, 의과대학, 보건·간호대학, 환경·자연자원대학, 우등대학(Honors College)과 대학원으로 구성되어 있습니다. 학생들이 운영하는 신문사, 라디오 방송국, TV 방송국, 법률 서비스를 포함해 150개 이상의 다양한 동아리와 학생기구가 있습니다. 교내 거주하는 학생들은 40여개에 달하는 기숙사에 거주하고 있으며 편의점과 인터넷 카페를 편리하게 이용할 수 있습니다. 학교 도서관은 1만 4000여권의 책을 소장하고 있으며 Bailey/ Howe 도서관, 다나 의학 도서관, 물리 화학 도서관 등으로 구분하고 있습니다. UVM 이 위치한 벌링턴은 인구 약 4만의 활기넘치는 미국의 작은 도시중 하나이며, 19세기 중반, 섐플레인 호를 기반으로 항구도시로서의 면모를 다졌으며 현재 버몬튼 주 최대의 도시가 되었습니다. 소규모 제조업이 발달하였고 버몬트 주 최고의 교육기관인 본교가 자리하고 있습니다. 섐플레인 호와 그린 산맥 사이에 위치하여 경치가 매우 아름답기로 유명합니다.
