Looking ahead to our 50th anniversary in 2022!

Be sure to stay tuned for more special news to come

Ready for Summer ?!
Greetings from sunny San Diego and Converse International School of Languages!

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back to study with us soon! We have been taking all necessary COVID-19 precautions and following CDC guidelines since June 15, 2020.

On April 26, 2021, the U.S. Secretary of State made a  national interest determination regarding categories of travelers eligible for exceptions to a  Presidential Proclamation related to the spread of COVID-19.  The result of this exemption is that students from China, Iran, Brazil, South Africa, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, who wish to travel to the United States to study on an F-1 or M-1 visa may now qualify for this National Interest Exception if their academic program begins August 1, 2021 or later.
Students who have a valid student visa or a valid ESTA authorization for travel under the Visa Waiver Program that was issued before the original Presidential Proclamation related to the spread of COVID-19 should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate before traveling, if they believe they may qualify for a National Interest Exception. If a National Interest Exception is approved, they may travel on either a valid visa or ESTA authorization, as appropriate after August 1, 2021.

The full update can be found here on the U.S. Department of State website.

Junior Program Updates

Due to continued COVID-19 restrictions both in the U.S. and abroad, and certain partner universities deciding to only host virtual programs and postpone their in person programs to summer 2022, we will not be able to run all of our usual in person junior programs for summer 2021. We have the possibility to run an in-person program at the University of San Diego during the month of July 2021, depending on travel restrictions. Please check with your closest embassy to verify if you are able to travel to the U.S.  and contact juniorprograms@cisl.edu if you would like to enroll.

We look forward to welcoming back all CISL juniors in 2022. Please note that we will continue to offer online courses throughout all of 2021.

CISL will contact you regarding 2021 enrollments in the next few days. For any further questions, postponements or cancellations please email directly juniorprograms@cisl.edu

    Dear Valued Partner,

The global pandemic of the COVID-19 virus has forced the closure of CISL San Francisco for several months.  After this health crisis, it will be some time before things return to normal in San Francisco.   We have, therefore, decided it is better to consolidate the SF courses with those delivered by our school in San Diego.  This change is effective as of today.

At this time almost all students at the San Francisco school have returned to their countries.   The few remaining students are receiving live online classes from their CISL teachers through our online platform online.cisl.edu.   The San Diego school will continue to provide support for those students.  One of the owners of CISL, Jean-Pierre Guittard, lives in San Francisco and is also available to assist any students.

Once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, the remaining San Francisco students will be given an option to transfer to our school in San Diego,  or we will assist them to transfer to a similar course at another school in San Francisco.

We will continue to offer our Junior Program at Berkeley and the other summer locations.    The Berkeley program will be managed by the Juniors Department at CISL San Diego.

In addition, CISL San Diego will also begin offering the Global Success programs that were offered at CISL San Francisco.
