Partnership Spotlight: University of St. Thomas (MN) Pathway Program
Students can improve their English while taking undergraduate classes for credit in the St Thomas Pathway Program. Scholarships up to 50% are available for Spring 2020.
Our 2020 ELS Brochure showcases our academic, Pathway, business and vacation English programs, our new curriculum and materials, and our 35+ destinations in USA and Canada.
Your students can learn English while enjoying Canadian winter activities like snowboarding, ice skating, and hockey, all while developing cultural skills interacting with students from across the world.
Our warm and welcoming homestay program is a great opportunity to experience American life in Florida. Students practice their English at Eckerd College in the morning and enjoy outdoor activities in the afternoon: beach, theme parks, shopping and more.
Eliany, a recent ELS Toronto Level 112 grad, has been accepted to the University of Toronto's architecture program, which is ranked in the top 40 architecture programs in the world. Eliany is the final of three children sent by her family in Panama to study with ELS in Toronto.
As we look for ways to better serve our students, we are also looking for ways to better serve our agent partners. We would like to introduce you to our new newsletter, which we will be sending every month. This newsletter will replace e-bulletins, sharing all content in one place, once a month. We’ll share any relevant updates including housing changes, pricing, etc. and give you a glimpse into our students’ experiences and what life is like at our centers. In this newsletter, you can view all relevant links for more information on SuperService or ELS.edu.

ELS Santa Monica Offers Pre-Masters Program to Kazakh Students
ELS Santa Monica was selected to offer high-achieving students from Kazakhstan a customized Intensive Pre-Masters English Program to help them prepare for graduate school at elite post-secondary institutions.
Juan-Miguel is an ELS all-star. Originally from Venezuela, he has studied at ELS in the youth program and just completed level 112 at ELS/Houston in the academic program. Juan-Miguel believes the youth program has helped him improve his English and prepare for the academic learning we offer in the Intensive English programs. We’re very happy for him in his ELS journey and look forward to hearing more about his future success in university!

Booking Change for American Hotel at ELS/Seattle
Dear ELS Counseling Partners,
ELS/Seattle is pleased to announce a booking change for our off-campus option, American Hotel, for student housing effective Session 4. ELS students may now reserve rooms at the American Hotel directly thorough ELS. ELS will then arrange the reservation of single or double occupancy rooms at the American Hotel. In addition, all payments will be handled by ELS.
Located in the International District of Seattle, adjacent to downtown, the American Hotel is near several transit hubs (light rail, street car, bus, Amtrak) and is a 10-15 minute commute to the center.
The American Hotel houses students and travelers from all over the U.S. and the world. Numerous restaurants and grocery options are minutes away and entertainment (including major sporting events and nightlife) is within walking distance. In addition, the American Hotel hosts its own activities such as walking tours of neighborhoods, movie nights, and game nights.
The dorm-style hostel has single and double occupancy rooms, with shared common areas including a fully equipped kitchen, TV room, bathrooms in hallways, mini-library and game room, public computer room, and coin operated washer/dryer room. The American Hotel provides a safe environment for all residents with a front desk that is staffed 24 hours a day. The front door is locked from 9 pm to 7 am. At night, students will need to have their key to enter the building.
The American Hotel is located 14 miles (22km) from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Newly arriving students have the option of the ELS airport pickup service through A-One Airport Express at the price of $120. Preferred check-in is between 3 and 9 pm. Upon arrival, students will go to the front desk to receive their keys.

Session Availability: Accommodation at the American Hotel is available for the academic year only: (Sessions 1-5 and Sessions 9-13). For alternative housing options during the summer months, please contact the center directly.

The University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN), and ELS recently signed an agreement which marked the beginning of a new phase in their 20-year partnership – to develop an undergraduate pathway program.
This pathway program – the first undergraduate pathway for ELS – will prepare international students for academic study at the University by allowing them to take English courses and core requirement courses simultaneously within their first year – enabling them to progress to year two and pursue the degree program of their choice.
“Through the UST ELS Pathway program, we will better fulfill Rev. John Ireland’s founding goal for St. Thomas to reach students who otherwise did not have access to a quality college education. We are excited about this opportunity to serve more international students while increasing our international presence on-campus and abroad,” said UST Associate Vice Provost for Global Learning and Strategy, Tim Lewis.
The University of St. Thomas is ranked #115 in National Universities by U.S. News & World Report. International students in this pathway program can pursue a degree in one of UST’s most popular undergraduate programs, such as science, finance, business, and the nationally ranked #29 engineering program (U.S. News & World Report).
“The 20-year partnership between ELS and the University of St. Thomas has proven that we share the same commitment to providing international students with education of the highest quality and standards. This new pathway program brings together a nationally ranked university, and ELS’s more than 55-year history and impeccable reputation within the U.S. higher education sector,” said ELS Executive Vice President Alexandra (Sasha) Zilovic, “We are thrilled to be working side-by-side with UST to offer this outstanding new program, and help students achieve their academic goals.”
The University of St. Thomas Pathway Program aims to enroll its first international students in 2019, and will offer a combination of programs and services such as courses for degree credit, counseling, and English-language support.

*By the way, the residence policy had been changed for sometime now. The student must be between the ages of 17 and 25, students must enrolled in EAP or GEN, and student must stay for a minimum of 2 consecutive sessions.*

업데이트 하면서 전형료와 교재비 각각에 대하여 $10 인상하였다고 합니다.
인상된 가격은 2016년2월15일부터 접수되는 지원서부터 적용됩니다.

질문) ELS에서 대학진학지도 및 조건부로 가고자 하면 EAP과정을 들어야하는걸로 알고 있는데 연수 전기간 다 들어야하는지 최소 단위로 EAP를 얼마큼 들어야 한다는 조건이 있는지요. 학생이 일반영어 과정을 공부하다가 현지에서 조건부로 가고자 하는 것으로 계획이 바뀌었을 때 EAP로 과정 변경이 가능한지요?
답변) 네, 일반영어 듣다가 EAP로 전환 가능합니다. 다만, EAP 과정의 커리큘럼은 좀더 아카데믹하기 때문에 조금 낮은 레벨로 배정이 되거나, (예를 들어, 일반영어 107을 이수하고 EAP로 변경할 경우, EAP 과정 무조건 108에 자동으로 배정되는 것은 아님) EAP 과정에서 코스를 수강하는 중에 FAIL 할 가능성 등을 고려하여 조건부 입학날짜보다 조금 넉넉하게 신청하시는게 안전합니다.
