This month we take a look at how the UK's imminent exit from the EU may affect European students wishing to study in the UK, and travel blogger Nina Cavell talks about her time at LSI New York. Our October feature location is Auckland, and we share some new photos and video of our highly popular junior residential programme in Cambridge.
As we approach October 31, the proposed date when the UK will leave the EU, in order to reassure any EU or Swiss Citizens who are planning to study and work in the UK, or are currently there, LSI would like to highlight the following UK Government's advice.
Digital designer Nina Cavell is a popular blogger in her native Germany, regularly posting about her travels and creative projects on her blog 'Be Creative'.
Following her recent Study Abroad trip to LSI New York, she posted her thoughts about New York, New Yorkers and studying at LSI New York on her own blog, and also shared her thoughts with us for the LSI blog.
This summer saw the launch of our highly successful summer residential programme for juniors on the Abbey College Campus in Cambridge. Whilst LSI does offer language classes to younger juniors (6-11 years) at other LSI locations, the LSI Cambridge programme is unique in offering the full programme including accommodation and afternoon activities to students as young as 9. Unsurprisingly the programme proved highly popular. We decided to capture all the fun on video and in photos.
New Zealand attracts millions of visitors every year from all around the world. Why are so many people willing to come so far and why is Auckland an excellent place to study English?
This month we've got some top tips on finding the perfect accommodation, we discuss the benefits of taking IELTS and the recent successful NZQA inspection at our school in Auckland. It's also your last chance to book on our junior summer programmes due to finish at the end of August.
If you've ever considered studying at an English speaking university in the UK, Australia or New Zealand, you're probably already familiar with IELTS ? the International English Language Testing System. High level IELTS scores are accepted by universities in these countries as proof of English language proficiency and are often a prerequisite for international students enrolling on degree courses.
Find out more about the IELTS test and the importance of taking a preparation course.
The NZQA is the government agency in New Zealand dedicated to monitoring the quality of education in the private tertiary sector. After a highly successful inspection by NZQA at our Auckland school back in April, LSI is proud to say we have retained our Category 1 status.
In the NZQA External Evaluation and Review, it was noted: "LSI Auckland uses a thorough system of evaluation and analysis to support the academic achievement of international students. An emphasis on providing strong support and pastoral care results in high satisfaction as expressed in student feedback."
This was similar feedback to the English New Zealand Audit in March, in which LSI was awarded two commendations for pastoral care and evaluation of student progress.

Choosing the Right Accommodation
Top of our priority list when studying abroad is finding the perfect language school. A place where we'll make friends from around the world and get a quality education. The search for somewhere to stay is often a secondary consideration but we believe is vitally important to making your stay a happy one. Read our tops tips for finding the perfect accommodation.
The Bay Area Book Festival, the second largest literary festival in the US, takes place every year in May in Berkeley. The streets of the downtown area come alive with book stalls, pop up food outlets, street entertainers and the many indoor and outdoor venues staging over a 100 shows.
Ensuring the smooth running of such a huge event inevitably relies on good community support. Both this year's event organisers and the City Mayor have praised LSI staff and students for the contribution they made towards the successful running of the 2019 festival. For some students volunteering for the festival had an added benefit.
Some say that the British have an obsession about the weather, infact they love nothing better than to talk about it. Whether that's true or not, the English language certainly has an extensive vocabulary for describing it. Did you know, for example, that the Scots have 421 words for snow, more than the Eskimos!
We've created a fun quiz of some of the most common meteorological terms. Find out how just how 'British' you are when it comes to discussing the weather.
As a long-term resident and language teacher at LSI Boston, Marcella Haddad knows the city extremely well. Students often ask her advice about the top places to visit, popular restaurants and bars and the most fun leisure pursuits. But even she would never claim to know the city inside out. However, according to Marcella, taking the time to discover the hidden side to Boston is definitely worth the effort.
We are so excited to share that for the 10th year in a row, LSI Zurich has been recognized for its academic and service achievements by worldwide agent LanguageCourse.net.
After a review of customer satisfaction about the quality of services provided by over one thousand of its clients at various academic institutions, LSI Zurich's feedback was rated overall excellent.
