버몬트 주립대가 위치한 버몬트주 벌링턴은 버몬트주의 최대 도시로 안전하고 아름다워

가장 이상적인 대학 도시로 꼽히고 있습니다. 현지 기업인 IBM, Green Mountain Coffee,

Dealer.com, Ben & Jerry's, General Electric등이 포진해 있는 최대 도시이며, 뉴욕과

비행기로 2시간, 보스턴 차로 3시간 30분, 캐나다 몬트리올 차로 2시간 정도의 거리로

미국 최대 도시들과 이동이 어렵지 않습니다. 학교 캠퍼스는 시내에서 도보 15분 거리에

위치합니다. 학교에 근접해 있는 Champlane 강을 따라서 등산, 트래킹, 자전거 타기,

스키 등의 다양한 야외활동을 할수 있습니다.

버몬트 대학교는 미국 최고 수준의 연구 중심의 공립 종합대학으로

하버드, 예일, 다트머스, 브라운과 함께 뉴 잉글랜드에서 5번째로

오래된 역사를 가진 대학입니다.

우수한 공립대학교 모임인 Public Ivy League 소속 대학교로 널리

알려져 있습니다. 대학 연구 기금으로 석사, 박사 학생 그리고 학사

학생까지 연구에 참여하고 있습니다. 학생들의 커리어와 학업을 위해

대학교입니다.

현재 농업·생명과학대학, 문리대학, 경영대학, 교육·사회사업대학, 공학·수학대학, 의과대학, 보건·간호대학,

환경·자연자원대학, 우등대학(Honors College)과 대학원으로 구성되어 있습니다.

우등대학은 별도의 학위를 수여하지 않으며, 의과대학을 제외한 7개 단과대학의 재학생 가운데 우수한 학생을 선발해

별도의 교과과정을 운영합니다. 학부 과정에서는 1,880개 교과목이 개설되어 있으며, 103개 분야에서 학사학위를 수여합니다.

그리고 54개 분야에서 석사학위를 수여하고, 의학박사 학위 외에 22개 분야에서 박사학위를 수여합니다.

오늘날 이 대학에는 사립대학과 공립대학의 전통이 뒤섞여 있습니다. UVM 의 우수한 교육과정은 모든 전공을 아우르는데 소규모 수업과

현장에서 요구하는 바를 적용하는 유연한 수업 내용으로 대표할수 있습니다. 대학에서는 학생 개개인에 대한 맞춤형 상담과 학업지도를 위해

최선의 노력을 경주하고 있으며 이는 학생이 졸업 후 현장에서 바로 적용가능한 지식, 기술습득, 경력사항으로 귀결됩니다.

활기차고 역동적인 캠퍼스 생활은 재학생들과 지원학생들 모두에게

햑생들이 운영하는 신문사, 방송국을 포함해 150개 이상의 다양한 동아리와 학생기구가 있습니다.

동문 중 다수의 주지사, 노벨상 수상자, 정보화 시대가 요구하는

전문가등을 배출했으며 명성있는 철학자, 오스카 수상자 출신의

교수진은 이러한 동문 네트워크를 더욱 단단하게 결속 시키는
