The last 12 months have been a challenging time for the EFL industry, bringing change and sacrifice to many, as we continually bolster ourselves against uncertainty. We wish to share with you an update from our company so please take a moment to watch the following video.
We understand that this update is likely to bring some questions and we have compiled some questions and answers below that we hope will help resolve some of these for you.
What happens now with your student bookings in these locations?
1. Students currently in the school location
Australia: In accordance with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, EC Australia has transferred its remaining students to a reputable provider in Australia. The impacted agents and students are being contacted and the transfer is taking place with the minimum disturbance possible to students.
New Zealand, Oxford, Washington DC and Miami: As these schools have been closed for the majority of the last 12 months, we currently have no students studying in these locations.
2. Current students and future bookings for EC Virtual classes in the ANZ time zone
There will be no impact on our EC Virtual students. They will continue to be taught in the same time zone by ECs qualified and experienced teachers.
3. Future face-to-face bookings with deposits already paid
Australia: i) Refund for Visa Students with COE (Confirmation of Enrolment) If a student has already been issued with a COE then the tuition fees are held in a trust account. This trust account is managed by the Tuition Protection Service (TPS). Students will be contacted directly by TPS and refunded the gross amount due to them. TPS understands that in many instances the student may need their agent's support during the process. For further information on the TPS process please visit here. Or contact TPS on administrator@a.tps.gov.au ii) Students without a COE: Your EC local sales contact will be in touch to provide support on redirecting impacted students with future bookings to other EC destinations. If this is not a suitable alternative for your student then EC will issue a refund.
New Zealand: Prepaid fees are held by a third party Public Trust in the form of a Trust Fund. EC will work directly with the trust to process refunds. Please note that NZQA regulations state that refunds can only be issued to student accounts.
Oxford, Miami and Washington DC: Your EC sales representative will work directly with you to manage these bookings. We will look to switch them to an alternative EC location or refund where appliable.
4. Future face-to-face bookings with NO deposit paid
Your EC sales representative will work directly with you to manage all future students' bookings where no deposits or monies have been paid to date. We will look at alternative EC locations with you.
Please note that for all future student bookings in the impacted locations, either with or without a deposit paid, a member of the EC sales & admissions team will be contacting you to discuss how you wish to manage these.
Should you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us, as always.
Rest assured, our team is populated with excellent talent and by continuing to work together to support our key destinations, I believe EC is very well placed to bounce back fast in a post-pandemic world.

For those students already booked in for a course that week, or for those that were planning to do so, we will be making up the lessons on the days that do not fall on a public holiday. Where we are closed because of a public holiday as with our standard terms and conditions no lessons will be made up.
Should you have any questions, please contact your sales and/or admissions representative.
Both EC and NGL are committed to being the change we want to see in the world through effective communication and through actions and were excited to partner with them. Our materials have been through an intensive development process and are the result of years of teaching expertise, classroom research and user feedback, and deliver unique, powerful and effective course content for students.
Charlotte Ellis Head of Strategic Marketing, National Geographic Learning
Not only does NGL provide excellent materials, they work with us as a partner rather than simply a supplier. They provide training and support to our schools and because of the close relationship we have developed, we collaborate on ideas for future development. This relationship enables us to provide our students with cutting edge materials that help them to find their voices.
